I am writing to tell you about one of our student’s experience with Self Test practice exams.
This student took a 10-day Oracle DBA "boot camp" class from us… the most intense form of training we offer. We gave students in this class a Self Test practice exam as they completed each module. Shortly after attending the boot camp, our student took the five Oracle certification exams passing all five the first time.
He attributed 25% of the credit for his success to our class. He gave 25% credit to an official Oracle DBA preparation text. Interestingly, he gave 50% credit to the Self Test practice exams. He thought they were extremely valuable for his preparation to take the actual examinations.
This makes sense because these tests are the most interactive process a student can use for preparation… and get instant feedback on their knowledge of the material.
We will continue to use and recommend Self Test practice examinations to all our students.

For several years I managed and taught in the technical education services for a Fortune 500 company. The students took a week class in Novell or Microsoft and then were expected to take a certification exam. Having been in the same situation I highly encouraged students to utilize the wealth of knowledge embedded in the Self Test Software practice exams. I have used and depended on Self Test Software for many years to prepare for quite a number of certification exams, and still do.
Now that I am the lead faculty at Mesa Community College/Network Academy, I find these practice exams even more valuable due to the maturity of the Self Test exam packages. The Network Academy not only offers curriculum for degree and certificates; it prepares students for the real world of IT.
One of the first steps is passing those vendor certification exams, including A+, Network+, Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, and Oracle. Because Self Test Software has preparation exams for all of these, they have become a one stop-shopping place for our test preparation needs. The students get a great price for a great product.
I tell students to start their study by limiting their selection to 10-20 questions at a time so they can keep focused on those questions. Too many questions at a time not only take a while, but you lose your focus. If they hit a question they are not sure of, then either click the "Learn Now" button or purposely answer it wrong so they will review the answer at the end of the exam. Too often a person takes a guess at a question and then forgets to verify it. Therefore, the next time they see the question they don’t remember the answer.
There is a lot of exam preparation software out there, but most of them focus on only one vendor and are often not very consistent. I started using Self Test when they were known as Big Red, and I have never been disappointed.

Following a first Oracle DBA boot camp which included Self Test Software practice tests:
I wanted to let you know that Randy Ramos, the course director for the Oracle Boot Camp told me that he thinks your product is far superior to the Sybex book's practice exams. The questions are better AND the tool is better.
He says that the Sybex books still have merit; however, your practice exams are absolutely essential to the success of this course.
